About ME

Hello!

I'm Besheer Abbaro. I’m an illustrator and creator of Foxes & Angels with my partner Clare.

Having spent 10 years teaching illustration at Art schools such as Goldsmiths, University of London and being a commissioned illustrator for the likes of The Guardian Newspaper and various book publishers, I took the direction towards exploring pattern and linocut printing.

I was selected twice for The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2012 and 2013.

In January 2020 Clare and I landed at the Top Drawer trade fair at London Olympia with 50 card designs and 20 gift wrap designs. We now have over 200 successful designs and prints and are proud to be associated with an increasing number of boutique shops, garden centres, bookshops and cafes throughout the UK and beyond.

Processes

Our cards use a mix of lino prints (the process of printing ink from a sheet of linoleum) and drawing and painting. The cards are all printed on FSC (The Forestry Stewardship Council) Certified card or 100% recycled card. We use minimal packaging and are always seeking to reduce our carbon footprint where possible.

Cards are sold nested or with card clasps.

We all like a good story. Mine is that I come from a long line of creatives. My great - grandfather was Sir Edwin Lutyens the quintessential Edwardian architect and my grandmother was Elisabeth Lutyens the modernist composer. My father was Mo Abdalla the London Potter. Hopefully a little of their creativity has rubbed off on me!
